Ringgold spikers split on road, earn sweep at home

The Ringgold Lady Tigers made the short drive to Heritage on Tuesday and returned home with a split of their matches with Dalton and the Lady Generals.

Ringgold took down the Lady Catamounts, 25-16 and 25-20, behind 14 kills, three digs and a block by Ricki Lynn Bickley. Chloe Hall picked up three kills, four digs and an ace, while Zoie Metcalf dished out 15 assists, 12 digs and five aces.

Other contributo­rs included Jasley Brooks (2 kills, 6 digs), Lauren Terrell (1 kill, 2 assists, 1 block, 6 digs), Bethany Thomason (3 digs) and Jewel Parham (1 kill).

Ringgold dropped both sets to Heritage, 25-21 and 25-19.

Bickley had nine kills, three digs and an ace in the loss. Hall finished with three digs, two kills and a dig, Metcalf added 10 assists, two aces and a dig, while Thomason (2 kills, 1 ace) and Brooks (1 dig) got onto the stat sheet.

On Thursday, back in David Moss Gymnasium, the Blue-and-White made quick work of Model before handling state-ranked Chattooga.

Ringgold hammered the Lady Blue Devils, 25-2 and 25-6, thanks to Bickley’s nine kills and seven digs. Metcalf recorded five kills, 17 assists and 13 aces, while Hall added 10 digs and two kills.

Other standouts included Brooks (8 digs, 1 kill), Terrell (3 kills, 2 digs), Thomason (1 kill, 1 dig), Parham (2 digs) and Emily Ridley (3 aces, 4 digs).

The Lady Tigers got a tougher test from Class AA’s No. 8-ranked squad, but still got the sweep, 25-19 and 25-18.

Bickley paced the offense with six kills, while adding 16 digs. Hall had 12 digs, a kill and an ace. Metcalf recorded 10 assists, 11 digs, four kills and two aces, while Brooks picked up nine digs, two kills and a block.

Other contributo­rs included Terrell (11 digs, 1 kill, 1 assist), Thomason (8 digs, 1 kill, 1 ace, 1 block) and Parham (2 digs).

Ringgold (9-5) will be back at home on Tuesday to host Coahulla Creek and Chattanoog­a Central, starting at 5 p.m., while they will continue the homestand on Thursday (5 p.m.) against Dade County and Southeast Whitfield.
