Ridgeland pick up two wins in Trenton

Fresh off a Silver Bracket title at the LFO Invitation­al on Aug. 19, the Ridgeland Lady Panthers went 2-2 this past week, scoring two wins on the road and suffering two losses in south Walker County.

On Monday, Ridgeland picked up wins over Murray County (25-12, 25-18) and Dade County (25-18, 2515) in Trenton.

Jayda Jenkins led the Lady Panthers with nine kills and three aces against Murray County. Rachel Atchley had two kills and 12 assists, while Landree Dunn added two kills and a block. Sara Taylor had a pair of aces and Abbi Witherow came up a team-high five digs.

Against Dade County, Jenkins paced the offense with five kills,

offense with five kills, followed by Dunn with four kills and a block. Tori Elliott had three kills. Atchley had three aces and 17 assists, while Witherow added two aces.

Thursday found the Black-and-White in LaFayette in an all-Walker County trimatch.

Ridgeland opened with a 25-14, 25-18 loss to the Class AAAA No. 9-ranked Lady Ramblers.

Individual statistics for the Lady Panthers were not available as of press time.

In the nightcap, Ridgeland fell to Class A No. 8-ranked Gordon Lee, 25-8 and 27-25. Jenkins had four kills versus Gordon Lee, while freshman Sara Taylor, filling in for an injured Sarah Williams, had eight service points in the second set against the Lady Trojans.

Ridgeland (6-9) will be home Tuesday as they open area play versus Gilmer at 5 p.m.

They will be back at home on Thursday in a tri-match with LFO and Lookout Valley, which also starts at 5.
