The LaFayette Lady Ramblers scored seven times in the top of the fifth inning to beat the Rossville Lady Bulldogs, 13-12, in a non-NGAC game last Tuesday night at Rossville City Park.

The game, which lasted nearly two-and-ahalf hours, was stopped after the top half of the fifth.

LaFayette put up two runs in the top of the first, only to have Rossville counter with a five-run bottom of the first. The Lady Ramblers added four more in the second to briefly take the lead, but the Lady Bulldogs pushed home a run in the third to knot the game at 6-6.

In the bottom of the fourth, Rossville would retake the lead with a six-run inning. A MaKayla Cope single brought home Ava Hegwood and later, with the bases loaded, Bree Goldsmith scored on a passed ball. The Lady Bulldogs would score four more times in the inning, two coming on walks with the sacks full.

However, LaFayette would have the last say in the wild shootout.

Kayli Ballard led off the top of the fifth with a double and moved to third on a groundout. Skylar Eaton would come to bat later in the frame and single to right-center, bringing in two runs. The Lady Ramblers would load the bases as Macy Martin came through with a run-scoring single, while a throwing error at the end of the play brought in a second run.

The Lady Ramblers would bat around as Ballard drew a free pass with the bases loaded. Rylee Gamlen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another run, while another throwing error allow Su’Andra Williams to scamper home from third.

Ballard was 3-for-3 for LaFayette, while Martin scored three times.
