Saddle Ridge extends volleyball winning streak

The Saddle Ridge Lady Mustangs volleyball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a pair of victories last week

On Tuesday, they scored a 25-17, 25-11 win at Lakeview.

Daisy Felipe had a solid all-around match with seven assists, three aces, three kills and four digs. Colby Charland hammered home eight kills to go with five digs and an ace. Jaden Tucker added three kills, while Samantha Cramer added three assists, three digs and two aces.

Also contributi­ng to the win were Justice Devlin (2 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 1 dig), Winter Johnson (4 assists, 2 aces, 1 dig), Natalee McClain (5 digs, 1 ace, 1 kill), Kailey Boulware (4 digs, 1 ace, 1 kill) and Brylee Durham (2 digs).

In the JV match, the Lady Mustangs picked up a 25-20, 25-12 win behind five kills and two blocks from Aubrey Sayers and a halfdozen aces from Caitlyn Lambitz.

Markella Johnson recorded four kills and three aces. Kaitlyn Helton added four aces and two kills. Erin Lemons picked up three aces, two assists and one dig, while Vianca Segarra had an ace and a dig.

Other standouts included Kayla Bailey (2 kills, 1 assist), Maggie Hambrick (1 kill, 1 ace) and Amylia Grace Kelley (1 dig).

Then on Thursday, the Lady Mustangs picked up a 25-8, 25-1 home win over Dade County.

Charland was dealing against the Lady Wolverines with 13 aces to go with her five kills. Felipe added eight aces to go with four assists, while Durham served up five aces. McClain had three aces, a dig and a kill. Tucker added two kills and Boulware had one. Other standouts included Devlin (3 blocks, 1 kill) and Cramer (3 assists, 1 kill).

Saddle Ridge also picked up the W in the junior varsity match, winning 25-5 and 25-15.

Aces were plentiful for the Navy-and-Red once again. Helton had 10 to go with a dig and a kill. Segarra had nine aces and a kill, while Lambitz also served up nine aces.

Bailey and Johnson had two kills apiece, followed by Cecelia Davenport with one. Hambrick chipped in with two digs, while Sayers recorded an ace, a dig, a kill and an assist.

Saddle Ridge will play Tuesday at Heritage, starting with the JV match at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday, they will return to Rock Spring to face Ringgold, starting with the varsity match at 4:30.
