ENTERTAINM­ENT · Labor Day at The Post returns to Fort Oglethorpe’s Polo Field at Barnhardt Circle. Scheduled for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4, the event runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes great food, arts and crafts vendors, activities for the kids and musical entertainm­ent. Vendor space is still available. Spaces must be reserved in advance and are just $35 for a single 10’ x 10’ space and $65 for a double space. COMMUNITY · The Catoosa County Library (CCL) is excited to present 15 local authors in its first local author festival Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. until noon. These authors will be at the library to sign books, talk about their writing, and to share their stories. The authors in attendance write inspiratio­nal fiction, memoirs, children’s books, and many other genres. These authors have written so many book that there is certain to be a book for everyone. MEETING · The Georgia Chapter of the Trail of Tears Associatio­n (GA TOTA) will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Sequoyah Regional Library in Canton on Sept. 9, 2017. Speaker will be Michael Hitt and the topic will be “Cherokee Lands Along the Chattahooc­hee”. Hitt is a former law enforcemen­t officer and currently serves as historian for the Roswell Preservati­on Commission. He offers historical tours of the Roswell area. In addition to his research into Native American sites in the Roswell area, he is an avid Civil War history buff. COMMUNITY · The Women’s Enrichment Center will hold its annual banquet on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Stage 123, 123 W. Gordon St. in Dalton. In the past year, over 300 clients for a total of over 1,500 visits from the North Georgia area have been served at our three locations in Dalton, Chatsworth, and Ringgold. Speaker will be Claire Culwell. Claire’s miraculous LIFE story will educate and inspire anyone who is concerned about the plight of the unborn.

EDUCATION · The Chattanoog­a State Nursing Program will host a site review for continuing accreditat­ion of its Associate Degree Nursing Program by the Accreditat­ion Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) on Sept. 19-21, 2017. Chattanoog­a State Technical Community College is located at 4501 Amnicola Highway. REUNION · The 71st annual NanceRolli­ns Family Reunion is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Sept. 24, at noon. The reunion will be held at the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, located east of Ringgold, Ga. The first Nance-Rollins Family Reunion took place on September 28th, 1946 at Catoosa Springs in honor of Mrs. Claudia (Nance) Rollins, wife of W. Henry Rollins and mother of O. Wayne and John W. Rollins. For 70 years, this tradition has been kept alive and the family has gathered every year since then, to share old memories and create new ones. This year’s event will be a catered fish fry. If you do not eat fish or are allergic, please bring a dish to share. We are also asking everyone to bring their favorite dessert for our dessert table and your family’s favorite drink for the cooler. Come share your roots. Remember to bring with you any family photos and/or family memorabili­a you wish to share. COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Library, 305 South Duke Street, in LaFayette hosts “Ready to Read Story Time” every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Both programs are identical. The program consists of stories, crafts, songs and games designed to prepare children for successful school careers.
