Eight more state parks will have site-specific camping reservations
Long-time campers know the anticipation of getting to a campground early so they can pick their favorite spot. With eight additional state parks being added to the already five that offer “sitespecific” camping reservations — a perk for campers that allows them to reserve their desired camping location ahead of time -– planning long awaited camping trips will be even easier for future state parks guests.
Beginning Dec. 1, 2017, Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites will offer this popular feature at Fort Mountain State Park (Chatsworth), High Falls State Park (Jackson), Vogel State Park (Blairsville), as well as all campsites at Laura S. Walker State Park (Waycross). Previously, only a portion of Laura S. Walker’s campground had been site-specific.
Following suit, beginning on Jan. 8, 2018, site-specific camping reservations will also be offered at Hard Labor Creek State Park (Rutledge), Skidway Island State Park (Savannah), George L. Smith State Park (Twin City), and all sites at Reed Bingham State Park (Adel).
Previously, only Amicalola Falls State Park (Dawsonville), Richard B. Russell State Park (Elberton), James H. Floyd State Park (Summerville), Laura S. Walker State Park, and Reed Bingham State Park offered site-specific reservations.
With this amenity, campers no longer need to arrive early to pick out their favorite location to park their RV or pitch their tent. Their pre-picked campsite will be waiting for them. Georgia State Park campers enjoy bath houses with hot showers, water and electric hookups, grills and picnic tables, and picturesque scenery. Sewage hookups are available at some parks as well.
