Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute to provide leading-edge radiation oncology services

Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center has partnered with Tennessee Oncology to provide leading-edge radiation oncology treatments to patients in the community. The collaborat­ion enhances the broad spectrum of cancer services offered at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center.

“Cancer treatment plans can be complex and require multispeci­alty care,” said Michael Howard, chief of Medical Physics at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center. “With the expansion of our collaborat­ion with Tennessee Oncology, we now have medical oncologist­s and radiation oncologist­s on one campus, creating a more seamless treatment process for patients in our communitie­s.”

The full complement of services provided at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Parkridge Medical Center includes external beam therapy, intensitym­odulated radiation therapy, stereotact­ic body radiation therapy and stereotact­ic radiosurge­ry. The facility is also the only cancer center in the area that offers intraopera­tive radiation therapy.
