MEETING · The Catoosa County Historical Society will have its annual picnic on Monday, June 11, at 7 p.m. for its June meeting. We will be serving finger foods, and everyone is to bring a food item for sharing. We will meet at the Joseph McConnell children’s park next to the Old Stone Church Museum. If it is too hot or raining, we will meet at the Old Stone Church Museum, located at the intersecti­on of Highway 41 and Highway 2 (Catoosa Parkway). The Scenic City Ramblers, a local bluegrass band, will provide the entertainm­ent. It promises to be a fun evening, and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring a friend with them. We will have a short board meeting at 6:30 p.m. before the picnic begins. Since this will be the Historical Society’s last meeting until September, there will be several items we will need to discuss before we meet again. Hope to see you there!

COMMUNITY · Saturday, June 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Save Georgia’s Hemlocks, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, will offer a class at Cloudland Canyon State Park to teach people how to save their own hemlocks and also how to help others in their community do the same. Then immediatel­y after the class, the new trainees and other volunteers will participat­e in a short service project to treat some of the important hemlock trees in the park.

CHURCH · New Bethel Baptist Church, 1635 Salem Valley Road, Ringgold, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, will hold a singing. The Webb Sisters, from Jasper, Tenn., will be featured.
