Walker and Dade coun­ties awarded GDOT con­tracts

State Sen. Jeff Mullis, a Repub­li­can from Chicka­mauga, re­cently an­nounced that the Ge­or­gia De­part­ment of Trans­porta­tion (GDOT) has awarded three project con­tracts to Walker and Dade coun­ties. The three projects are part of the more than $112 mil­lion awarded to trans­porta­tion projects statewide.

“I com­mend GDOT and our lo­cal lead­ers for com­ing to­gether to bring these im­por­tant in­fra­struc­ture projects to Dade and Walker Coun­ties,” Mullis said. “All three of these projects are im­por­tant to im­prov­ing safety for our com­muters. I look for­ward to work­ing with GDOT on ad­di­tional projects be­ing awarded not only to Dade and Walker coun­ties, but to our en­tire lo­cal com­mu­nity.”

One of the projects for Walker County to­tals at $988,388 and will ad­dress about a mile of con­struc­tion of a bridge and ap­proaches on Old Lee School Road (County Road 58) over Dry Creek. GDOT an­tic­i­pates the project will be com­pleted by Sept. 30, 2019.

The sec­ond project awarded to Walker County to­tals $5,390,658. The project will be com­pleted by March 31, 2019, and will ad­dress 11.52 miles of milling and plant mix resur­fac­ing on Ga. High­way 1 from south of Grant Street to the Ca­toosa County line.

Dade County will re­ceive $4,525,215 for bridge re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions on Du­gan Loop (County Road 178), Dews Pong Road (County Road 373) and Ga. High­way 52 (Wal­nut Av­enue). The an­tic­i­pated com­ple­tion date for the project is April 30, 2021.
