Walker County Messenger

It’s been a good run . . . Colton Moore replacing Deffenbaugh in District 1

- Rep. John Deffenbaugh

Six years ago, I made the decision to run for the Georgia State House and enter the world of state politics. It has been a challenging and daunting experience for which I am very thankful. It led me to national and international involvement for the state, meeting many interesting people of differing ideologies. Sharing ideas with both parties and listening to their views enabled me to be a better legislator.

My previous years in small business and being retired Navy prepared me for many of the challenges I faced while in the state legislature. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed helping constituents find their way in the maze of state government bureaucracy and interacting with citizens who I represent.

Representing the northwest corner of Georgia for the last six years has been one of the highlights of my life, and I’m grateful that the good folks in Dade and Walker Counties have entrusted me with this responsibility. I will be forever grateful.

Having served on several committees concerning the family, I believe strong families make for a strong country. I see the family as the primary building block of our country, and I am confident that there is a strong group of colleagues that share my passion who will continue this critical work.

While you have elected a new state representative, I remain your representative through early January, 2019. Please contact me if I can be of any service to you in these remaining months.
