“Walker Rocks”
LaFayette kicked off the summer on June 2nd… I have had the pleasure of working with the cities of Walker County, the Walker County Chamber and the Walker County Commissioners office planning, preparing and presenting the 2nd Annual Honeybee Metric Bicycle Ride in coordination with the 2nd Annual Honeybee Festival.
We worked several months on these projects and I am always amazed and thrilled to see our community leaders working hard to “make it happen”. All the volunteers are great, but without the support and backing from our local government leaders, law enforcement and city and county employees, this wouldn’t be possible.
While LaFayette has been working on LAO, LaFayette Adventures Outdoors growth, Walker County Commissioner’s office and Walker County Chamber have been creating the “Walker Rocks” platform. Walker County recognizes the vast amount of outdoor activities that sit in our county. We have amazing natural resources that you don’t find in other places. Walker County is home to beautiful areas including lakes and creeks for fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding, and to Pigeon Mountain and Lookout Mountain with caving, hiking, biking, camping, hang gliding, rock climbing and bouldering. Our area has numerous mountain biking and running trails. Walker County is also home to The ChickamaugaChattanooga National Military Park where you can explore, run, walk, ride bicycles or just enjoy an afternoon picnic.
If what I mentioned isn’t enough, we have Rock City sitting atop Lookout Mountain which was awarded “The Southeast Travel Attraction of the Year”. It is one of the most recognized attractions in the country and they have enhanced the natural beauty that has always been a part of Walker County.
I am proud to work with the cities of Walker County and be a part of the Board of Directors with the Walker County Chamber that is recognizing what Walker County has to offer and sharing on the platform of “Walker Rocks”.
