Two lo­cals among Ge­or­gia Tech Grad­u­ates

The Ge­or­gia In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy pre­sented de­grees to ap­prox­i­mately 3,700 un­der­grad­u­ate and grad­u­ate stu­dents dur­ing the In­sti­tute’s 255th Com­mence­ment ex­er­cises on May 4 -5 2018. Among them were Davey Smith, of Ris­ing Fawn, with a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Com­puter Sci­ence de­gree and Ti­mothy Stern, of Look­out Moun­tain, earn­ing a - Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Me­chan­i­cal En­gi­neer­ing

One of the na­tion’s lead­ing re­search uni­ver­si­ties, the Ge­or­gia In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy is in the busi­ness of cre­at­ing the next - the next idea, the next tech­nol­ogy, and the next le­gion of ag­ile minds well equipped to imag­ine and en­gi­neer our fu­ture. More than 25,000 un­der­grad­u­ate and grad­u­ate stu­dents are en­rolled, and Ge­or­gia Tech is ranked in the na­tion’s top 10 pub­lic uni­ver­si­ties by U.S. News and World Re­port.

Two area res­i­dents grad­u­ate from the Univer­sity of the South

Two Ring­gold res­i­dents, Vann Lu­cas Turner and Mary Mar­garet Crum­b­liss, were awarded un­der­grad­u­ate de­grees at the Univer­sity of the South’s 2018 com­mence­ment cer­e­monies held in All Saints’ Chapel on the Se­wa­nee (Tenn.) cam­pus on May 13.

Turner earned a BS in ge­ol­ogy whle Crum­b­liss was awarded a BS in psy­chol­ogy, magna cum laude.

The Univer­sity of the South, fa­mil­iarly known as Se­wa­nee, is an in­de­pen­dent lib­eral arts col­lege lo­cated on 13,000 acres atop Ten­nessee’s Cum­ber­land Plateau be­tween Nashville and Chat­tanooga. It has been con­sis­tently ranked among the top tier of na­tional lib­eral arts col­leges.

Ru­s­tand earns de­gree from Bay­lor Univer­sity

Bay­lor Univer­sity, the old­est con­tin­u­ously op­er­at­ing univer­sity in Texas, con­ferred de­grees on a record num­ber of nearly 3,000 grad­u­ates dur­ing three spring com­mence­ment ex­er­cises May 11-12 in the Fer­rell Cen­ter on the Bay­lor cam­pus in Waco.

Mar­shall Wis­dom Ru­s­tand, of Look­out Moun­tain, Ga., was among this year’s grad­u­at­ing class, earn­ing a Bach­e­lor of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­traion, Fi­nance de­gree.

Nes­tled along the banks of the Bra­zos River in Waco, Texas, Bay­lor pro­vides nu­mer­ous ed­u­ca­tional and re­search op­por­tu­ni­ties across var­i­ous dis­ci­plines through 142 un­der­grad­u­ate, 75 mas­ter’s and 42 doc­toral pro­grams, a juris doc­tor and ed­u­ca­tion spe­cial­ist pro­grams.

Four area stu­dents grad­u­ate from Sam­ford

A record 1,240 de­grees were awarded dur­ing Sam­ford Univer­sity’s spring com­mence­ment. An es­ti­mated 250 stu­dents grad­u­ated with hon­ors.

Grad­u­at­ing stu­dents rep­re­sented 28 states and seven other coun­tries: United King­dom, Malaysia, China, France, South Korea, Canada and Ger­many.
