Two locals among Georgia Tech Graduates
The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 3,700 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 255th Commencement exercises on May 4 -5 2018. Among them were Davey Smith, of Rising Fawn, with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and Timothy Stern, of Lookout Mountain, earning a - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Two area residents graduate from the University of the South
Two Ringgold residents, Vann Lucas Turner and Mary Margaret Crumbliss, were awarded undergraduate degrees at the University of the South’s 2018 commencement ceremonies held in All Saints’ Chapel on the Sewanee (Tenn.) campus on May 13.
Turner earned a BS in geology whle Crumbliss was awarded a BS in psychology, magna cum laude.
The University of the South, familiarly known as Sewanee, is an independent liberal arts college located on 13,000 acres atop Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga. It has been consistently ranked among the top tier of national liberal arts colleges.
Rustand earns degree from Baylor University
Baylor University, the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, conferred degrees on a record number of nearly 3,000 graduates during three spring commencement exercises May 11-12 in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus in Waco.
Marshall Wisdom Rustand, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., was among this year’s graduating class, earning a Bachelor of Business Administraion, Finance degree.
Nestled along the banks of the Brazos River in Waco, Texas, Baylor provides numerous educational and research opportunities across various disciplines through 142 undergraduate, 75 master’s and 42 doctoral programs, a juris doctor and education specialist programs.
Four area students graduate from Samford
A record 1,240 degrees were awarded during Samford University’s spring commencement. An estimated 250 students graduated with honors.
Graduating students represented 28 states and seven other countries: United Kingdom, Malaysia, China, France, South Korea, Canada and Germany.
