Ringgold two wins from unbeaten run in NGAC regular season

With just two games remaining on the schedule before the start of the North Georgia Athletic Conference tournament, the Ringgold Lady Tigers show no signs of slowing down.

The Blue-and-White maintained their position atop the regular season standings with two more wins last week, although they had to fight off a stern test from a county rival to do so.

Ringgold 35, Lakeview 33

The Lady Tigers led 20-12 at halftime, fell behind 28-26 at the end of the third quarter, but held visiting Lakeview to just five points in the fourth to pull out the victory in an important NGAC game last Tuesday night.

Cady Helton had 13 points for Ringgold in the victory. Kayla Lopez added 10 points. Allie Massengale finished with five. Riley Burdette had three, while Brooke Baldwin and Leiah Henderson finished with two each.

The Lady Warriors got 14 points from Christen Collins and 12 points from Zoey Martin. Four points from Heidi Johnson, two by Presley Piatt and one from Micha Valdes rounded out the scoring for Lakeview.

Ringgold 40, Dade 20

Up by just a single bucket at halftime on Thursday, the Lady Tigers hit the accelerato­r in the second half and zoomed past Dade in a league contest in Trenton.

Kinsley Forscutt had 12 points as Ringgold stayed unbeaten in the NGAC. Massengale finished with nine points and Lopez chipped with seven. Henderson added four points, while Baldwin, Burdette, Ava Keener and Emma Stephnson all had two points each.

Lakeview 39, Saddle Ridge 29

The Lady Warriors began last week with a 10-point road win at Saddle Ridge on Monday in a game that was a makeup from a postponeme­nt on Dec. 10.

Martin scored nine points to lead the way for the Lakeview, followed by Collins with seven and Ziara Thompson with five. Trinity Heinrich had five points on the night. Johnson and Lexi Downey each poured in four, while Piatt and Mercedes Thompson each chipped in with two.

FanTasja Barber had 11 points, five steals and three rebounds for Saddle Ridge. Alivia Hughes had six points and eight rebounds, while Vianca Segarra had six points on a pair of 3-pointers and also collected two steals. Avery Jenkins finished with four points and a pair of rebounds. Olivia Acuff had two points, four rebounds and six steals, while Mallony Mitchell also picked up two rebounds.

Lakeview 31, Chattanoog­a Valley 18

The Lady Warriors closed out the week with a home on Thursday.

Collins had 10 points in a balanced scoring attack. Christina Gass finished with six points, while Johnson and Piatt scored four points each. Three points apiece from Martin and Kaile Richiez, along with two by Downey, rounded out the scoring for Lakeview.

Jamiah Lewis led CVMS with 11 points, but she was the only Lady Eagle to score in double figures. Alexis Wheeler, Mylee Howard and Camby Arthur all had two points apiece with Miriam Gaines adding one.

Chattanoog­a Valley 31, Dade 17

The Lady Eagles also used last Monday to make up their Dec. 10 postponed game in Trenton and did not allow more than five points in any of the four quarters as they took care of the Lady Wolverines.

Arthur paced CVMS with 13 points. Desiree Powell had eight points. Wheeler added four, while Gaines, Ragan Wimpee and Emma Yarbrough all had two points each.

Chattanoog­a Valley 55, Rossville 16

The Lady Eagles took control with a 20-point first quarter and picked up the win against their Walker County rivals last Tuesday.

Gaines had 15 points for CVMS. Lewis picked up 10 points, while Emma Fowler finished with seven. Yarbrough chipped in with six points. Wheeler had five. Howard and Arthur had four each, while Powell and Georgia Anderson each finished with two.

Rossville got nine points from Shayla Rosson, five from Jamice Davis and two from Calese Dallas.

Trion also beat Rossville on Thursday, 44-20. No further details had been provided as of press time.

Trion 49, Saddle Ridge 36

The Lady Mustangs saw the hosts use a big fourth quarter to rally for the win last Tuesday. Saddle Ridge led 21-15 at intermissi­on and was up five going into the final period, only to see Trion outscore them 25-8.

Barber led the Lady Mustangs with 10 points to go with five rebounds and two steals. Jenkins recorded nine points, five rebounds and two steals. Segarra and Mitchell scored six each on two 3-pointers and added two boards each.

Raven Yancy had a 3-pointer, while Hughes scored one point, but pulled down a teambest 12 boards. Macee Casteel had one point and three rebounds, while Acuff also had three rebounds. Head coach Daniel Scoggins also praised Mercedes Mitchell, Alyssa Debter and Kendalyn Watson for their efforts.

Saddle Ridge girls 37, Gordon Lee 23

Barber led all scorers with 18 points, eight steals and two rebounds as the Lady Mustangs picked up the home victory on Eighth Grade Recognitio­n Night this past Thursday. Acuff added six points and seven rebounds. Hughes and Jenkins had four points each with Hughes grabbing 10 boards. Segarra finished with three points and Casteel chipped in with two points and four rebounds for the winners.

Mallony Mitchell finished the scoring with two points. Yancy and Mercedes Mitchell each added a steal, while Debter and Watson each pulled down one rebound.

The Lady Trojans got six points each from Abby Logan and Tenslee Wilson. Dallas Wagoner finished with five points, while Madeline Bailey, McCartney Angel and Charlsie McElhaney all finished with two points each.

Heritage 41, Gordon Lee 14

The Lady Generals led by just five points at the end of the first quarter, but expanded their lead to 24-10 by halftime and coasted to the league win in Chickamaug­a last Tuesday

Dayonna Perryman had nine points to lead the way for Heritage. Natalie Vaughn, Aaliyah Rodgers and Katie Coke all had six points each. Bree Wilson and Charisma Graham each finished with four points. Macie Collins had three points, Avah Morrison had two points and Kelsey Anderson finished with one.

Wagoner had four points to pace the Lady Trojans. Wilson and Gracie Helton finished with three points apiece. Angel and Mady Lewis both had two points, while McElhaney finished with one.

Heritage 40, LaFayette 23

The Lady Ramblers stayed

within two points of the Lady Generals over the final three quarters of play. However, a

15-0 deficit after the first period was just too much to overcome as the Navy-and-Red scored the home win on Thursday.

Perryman had 15 points for Heritage. Collins picked up 10 points and Coke finished with four. The scoring was rounded out

by three points from Anderson and two points each by Wilson, Morrison, Reese Ambercromb­ie and Reese Fletcher.

Michaela Baker scored 13 points for the Lady Ramblers and Gracie Headrick picked up six. Maggie Green and Mya Woodard each scored two in the loss.

LaFayette 41, Dade 18

The Lady Ramblers did not allow more than five points in any quarter last Tuesday night as they picked up an easy home victory.

Michaela Baker had a gamehigh 18 points for LaFayette. Suki Williams finished with six points and Ella Webb added five. Jenna Baker and Maggie Green each had four points. Headrick and DeShayla Green each had two.
