The Lady Generals moved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 7-AAAA with a hard-fought 3-2 home win over Cedartown last Monday.

Morgan Phillips (6-3, 6-2) and Mia Callahan (6-1, 6-4) won singles matches for Heritage, while Elli Jost and Lauren Mock came through (6-0, 6-1) to secure the winning point in doubles.

The Generals, however, were not as fortunate as they fell to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in region play with a 3-2 loss.

Heritage got a win in singles by Nathan Minton (6-3, 6-2) and a doubles win from Kaleb Biddle and Jedd Johnson (6-2, 6-7, 10-6). However, they dropped the other two singles matches and had to forfeit at No. 2 doubles.

Heritage’s match at Northwest Whitfield, scheduled for last Tuesday, had to be postponed until April 6.

LaFayette teams earn road wins

The Lady Ramblers won a pair of three-set matches and earned a 4-1 win at Adairsville last Monday.

Abby Keys (6-3, 6-2) and Grace Hamilton (6-2, 6-7 (7), 6-1) won in singles. The team of LaTyah Barber and Kloe Ludy (6-4, 5-7, 6-1) also won in three sets, while Caylee Purcell and Megan Torbett (6-2, 6-2) enjoyed a much easier victory.

In the boys’ match, LaFayette also picked up a victory, but by a 3-2 count.

Logan Ramey (6-4, 6-3) and Cole Spears (6-2, 6-1) collected singles wins, while the team of Anthony

Collins and Ben Maanum (6-2, 6-1) also won their match to finish off the day.

Lady Ramblers rally

The Lady Ramblers found themselves down 0-2, but came storming back to pull off a 3-2 Region 6-AAA victory over a solid Murray County squad this past Wednesday afternoon in LaFayette.

A pair of losses in singles had the Lady Ramblers staring at just their second match loss of the season, but sophomore Macy Mashburn rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles before turning things over to LaFayette’s doubles teams.

The duo of Purcell and Torbett tied the match with an emphatic 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, which put the outcome of the match in the hands of Barber and Ludy, who were involved in their second three-set match in as many days.

Barber and Ludy won the first set, 7-5, but dropped the second set, 6-4. However, their season-long undefeated run would remain intact with a 6-2 win in the third set to clinch the match for the home team.

Rylee Stansberry claimed an 8-3 win exhibition singles for LaFayette, now 7-1 overall and 5-1 in region play.

Results of the boys’ match were not available as of press time.

The Tigers were not as fortunate as they lost a narrow 3-2 decision. Ty Williams won his singles match, while Elijah Wofford and Issac Self picked up a win in doubles.

LFO falls to Sonoraville, North Murray

The Warriors and Lady Warriors battled with the Phoenix in a rain-shortened match last Tuesday in Gordon County.

Playing Pro 8’s, the LFO girls fell by a 3-0 count, dropping all three singles matches. The doubles matches had just started when the rain moved in.

The Phoenix were up 4-0 in the boys’ match when rain

halted play. Anh Nguyen and Britton Rodriguez were up 7-6 in their doubles match when played ended.

One day later, LFO hosted another region foe in North Murray.

The Warriors lost by a 4-1 count with No. 1 singles player Andrew Hedges (6-1, 6-1) getting the lone point. The Lady Warriors saw No. 1 singles player Julie Shore (6-3, 6-2) and No. 3 singles player Darcy Gilbreath (6-2, 2-6, 6-1) win their matches, but the Lady Mountaineers would hang on for a 3-2 win.
