Ringgold golfers win twice against Gordon Lee

The Ringgold Tigers faced off with Gordon Lee in a nine-hole boys’ match at Windstone Golf Club last Tuesday and it was the Tigers picking up the victory, 173-204.

Christian Balistreri shot a 38 for Ringgold to lead all scorers. Cohen Shattuck and Christian Griffith each carded a 44, while Andrew McCarver shot a 47. Also playing for the Tigers was Jett Bridges (50), Noah Maretti (54), Aaron Elswick (60) and Cole Bailey (60).

Ayden Cordell had a 44 to pace the Trojans, followed by Zane Blaylock with a 47, Jack Lowery with a 55 and Sam Carswell with a 58.

Also teeing it up for Gordon Lee was Tanner Maynor (58), Will Carswell (59), Chandler McBee (60) and Cooper Jacks (62).

Those same two teams met up again a day later, this time at McLemore, and the Tigers would get a 41 from Balistreri and 42 from Bridges as they claimed another win over the Trojans.

Griffith carded a 45 and McCarver had a 48 to round out Ringgold’s team score of 176. Dylan Fayton (50), Shattuck (53), Maretti (55) and Bailey (66) also played for Ringgold.

Cordell had a 48 for the Trojans, who turned in a team score of 214. Blaylock carded a 53, followed by a 56 from Lowery and a 57 from Sam Carswell.

Also playing for Gordon Lee was Jacks (56), Will Carswell (58), McBee (58) and Maynor (60).

LaFayette, Heritage girls battle twice

The Lady Ramblers and Lady Generals traveled to Harrison, Tenn. to take on the Bear Trace Golf Course last Tuesday and it was Heritage winning the nine-hole match, 145-168.

Heritage got a 46 from Lauren Self and a 49 from Maddie Hunt, while a 50 from Kendall Harrell and a 54 from Zoe Ha rounded out the scores.

LaFayette was paced by Emma Moore’s 51, while Maggie Green (55), Hannah Kresser (62) and Jaylee Samples (65) also teed it up for the Lady Ramblers.

Two days later, the two teams squared off again, this time at the more familiar LaFayette Golf Course, and it was the Lady Generals earning a 149-175 win behind a 47 from Self and a 49 from Ha. Hunt carded a 53 and Harrell rounded out the day with a 54.

LaFayette got a 57 from Green, 59’s from Moore and Kresser and a 62 from Samples.

Heritage boys hold off LaFayette

The varsity boys also played nine holes at LaFayette on Thursday and the Generals were able to fight through breezy conditions to post a win, 160-169.

Samuel Johnson had a 38 for Heritage and Carter Bell carded a 39, while a 40 from Chandler Burns and a 43 from Robert Allan Lyle completed the team score. Also playing for the Generals was Cain Stover (43), Declan Ryan (45), James Kennedy (47), and Mitchell Kennedy (55).

LaFayette, playing its first match since returning from Spring Break, got a 40 from Grant Langford, while the rest of the team score featured a 42 from Scott Smith, a 43 from Mason Thompson and a 44 from Brady Mullaly. Junior Barber (51) and Isaac Lawrence (57) also played for the Ramblers.

A junior varsity boys’ match that same afternoon saw LaFayette defeat Walker County rival Ridgeland, 225-244.

R.J. Harris shot a 55 for the Ramblers. Jackson Brewster and Keegan Johns each carded a 56, while Cyrek Johns had a 58.

The Panthers got a 53 from Gavin Parris, a 61 from Josh Litts and a pair of 65’s from Austin Scott and Ryan Grasham.

LFO defeats Ridgeland in Chattanoog­a

Two old rivals teed off at Brown Acres Golf Course on Wednesday and the Warriors would get the better end of the scorecard with a 222-238 victory.

Alec Gentry was the low medalist for LFO, but individual scores for the Warriors were not available as of press time.

For Ridgeland, Gavin Parris led the way with a 54, followed by Litts (60), Grasham (61) and Scott (63).
