NGAC soccer teams enter final week before playoffs

The Rossville Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs earned a sweep against neighbor and rival Chattanoog­a Valley last Monday evening at Ridgeland High School.

Rossville girls 2, Chattanoog­a Valley 1

The Lady Bulldogs opened the match with a goal from Savannah Harris off an assist from Lacie Moyer. They went up 2-0 later in the first half after Maria Ronda scored with Moyer picking up a second assist.

Amelia Sells would get the Lady Eagles on the board in the second half, but Rossville would keep them off the board the rest of the way to collect the victory.

Rossville head coach Danielle Ellis gave credit to Naomi Dawson for her outstandin­g support in the midfield, while Briannah Carson, Alyssa Averitt and Dominga Rafael Bautista were named as defensive standouts.

Rossville boys 5, Chattanoog­a Valley 0

In the night’s opening match, Bryan Ojeda found the net twice for the Blue-and-White, while Branson Dean, Brandon Quintanill­a and Seth Murray all had one goal each.

Rossville head coach Whitney Kisor praised all of the eighth grade players for their effort in their final home match of their middle school careers.

Heritage girls 10, Rossville 0

The Lady Generals got four goals from Aireanna Williams and a hat trick from Zoie St. John in a home win over Rossville this past Wednesday to stay unbeaten in NGAC play.

Anna Bradford and Zoe Parham had one goal each, while Taylor Wade picked up a goal and an assist. Evie Robinson had a pair of assists, while Audrey Potter collected one.

Keepers Reese Abercrombi­e and Emily Holcomb each had a save in the victory, while Williams, Emilie Freeman, Victoria Gray, Charlotte Hayen, Ellie Kennedy,

Lilly Krajesky and Kinsey Woodard led the defensive charge.

Heritage boys 6, Rossville 0

The night’s other match saw Eli Newsome and Micah Berry each find the net twice for the Generals, while Ben Breedlove added a goal and recorded two assists.

Tristan Simmons picked up a goal and Landon Guthrie added an assist, while James McPheters, Peyton Fields, Hyrum Smartt and Camden Prichett were cited for their strong defensive performanc­es.

Saddle Ridge 4, Christian Heritage 1

The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs joined forces for a co-ed match against Christian Heritage in a non-league contest on Thursday and defeated the Lions, 4-1.

Riley Ledford scored both the opening goal and the capper for the Navy-and-Red. Elijah Decker connected on his second penalty kick of the year and Spencer Chadwick blasted home a shot from 30 yards out.

Addison Sanders was an offensive standout with several shots on goal, while Nikolina Wolfe, along with Jesse Bradford and Eli Hudson, earned praise for their defensive efforts.

LaFayette girls 6, Ringgold 0

The Lady Ramblers got a hat trick from Aleia Harris in a win over the Lady Tigers on Wednesday. Channing Johnson netted a pair of goals. Olivia Durham added one and Malorie Durham had multiple assists, while Emma House had several saves at keeper.

Ringgold boys 6, LaFayette 0

The Tigers got a hat trick from Isaac Talley and two goals from Anakin Cummings in a win over the Ramblers on Wednesday. Zachary Allen got Ringgold off to a fast start with an early tally and Levi Kooi would add an assist.

Head coach Jonathan Fincher gave credit to defenders Cooper

Reece, Cannon Lea, Hunter Reed and Cameron Talley in helping keepers Caden Bewley and Jack Crosby pitch the shutout. Both had saves in the match and Fincher termed it a true team effort.

LaFayette girls 1, Heritage 0
