LaFayette hoopsters sweep Trion, Dade

The LaFayette Lady Ramblers jumped out to a 24-7 lead at halftime on their way to a 28-17 victory over Trion in contest last Wednesday afternoon in south Walker County.

Zoey Smith had six points in the opening quarter as LaFayette built an 11-2 lead, while Emma Parker scored eight of her 10 points in the first half.

Smith finished with nine points on the night. Emma House added four. Jocelyn McCallie and Emily Maanum each scored two, while Hannah Phillips chipped in with one.

Ramblers jumped out to a 25- 3 advantage at intermissi­on on their way to their second win in a row and their third victory in their last four games.

House had 11 points for LaFayette (4-8). Olivia Durham added seven, followed by Parker with six, and Phillips and Smith with five apiece.

LAFAYETTE BOYS 50, TRION 10

The Ramblers scored the first eight points of the game, opened up a 15-point lead at the break, and held the Bulldogs to just three points in the second half as they picked up a fourth consecutiv­e win last Wednesday.

Shi’Ray Walker had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Jayven Williams had a game-high 14 points to go with four rebounds.

Cannon Cordle finished with five points and dished out three assists.

LaTell Gholer, Brennan Ballard, Luke Hopkins and Porter Sentell each had four points, while Josh Nasworthy and Braxton Kilgo both scored two.

LAFAYETTE BOYS 61, DADE 40

Walker scored 17 points in the opening quarter and finished with a game-high 24 as the Ramblers improved to 11-2 on the year with a win over the Wolverines on Thursday.

Sentell dropped in 10 points and Ballard had seven in the victory. Gholer and Nasworthy both added six points, followed by four from Jaidyn Simpson and two apiece by Kilgo and Williams.
