Ridgeland goes 2-0 against its neighbors from Chickamaug­a

The Ridgeland Panthers and Lady Panthers welcomed in Walker County neighbor Gordon Lee last Tuesday night for the first time ever as region opponents and it was good night for the hosts as they swept their way to a pair of Region 6-3A wins.

RIDGELAND GIRLS 59, GORDON LEE 29

In the opener, nine different Lady Panthers got in the scoring column as they opened up a 39-21 halftime lead even more by outscoring the Lady Trojans 16-2 in the third quarter.

Jamiah Lewis set the pace with 21 points for the Blackand-White. Haylee Collins had nine points. Madison Lennon finished with seven, followed by Emma Fowler with six and Trinity Silmon with five.

Chloe Tredy dropped in four points. Ava Mariakis had three, while Alexis Wheeler and Autumn Pasley scored two each. Ridgeland knocked down nine 3-pointers as a team and went 8 of 10 at the free throw line.

RIDGELAND BOYS 68, GORDON LEE 56

In the nightcap, the Panthers had another solid shooting performanc­e as they made eight 3-pointers and went 8 of 12 at the charity stripe to pick up the region victory.

John Hill had 23 points for Ridgeland. Eron Graham scored 14 points and Matthew Ramsey had 13. Chase Hickman finished with eight points and Isaac Mitchell had six, while Dakota Stone and Jaki Elliott both chipped in with two.

RIDGELAND GIRLS 44, OAKWOOD 33

The Lady Panthers faced another county opponent on Friday, making the short drive to Chickamaug­a to battle OCA and earning their second win of the season against the Lady Eagles.

Ridgeland led 25-11 at halftime and went up by as many as 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Lewis scored 18 points for Ridgeland (4-7, 1-3). Fowler finished with six points. Mariakis and Lacie Moyer scored five apiece, with Tredy adding four. Two points each by Lennon and Pasley, along with one point from Wheeler and Shayla Rosson, completed the scoring.

RIDGELAND BOYS 69, OAKWOOD 33

The second game of the evening saw the Panthers crack the 68-point barrier for the third straight game, thanks in part to big first and fourth quarters. Ridgeland (3-6, 2-2) opened up a 26-4 lead after the first eight minutes and outscored the Eagles 19-4 in the fourth to put it away.

Hickman scored 17 points to lead four Ridgeland players in double figures. Ramsey scored 15, including three 3-pointers. Hill had 12 and Graham added 10. The rest of the scoring included five from Jamarion Burks, four by Mitchell, and two each from Stone, Elliott and Hayden Mooneyham.

Ridgeland’s teams were scheduled to play in the Gordon Lee Christmas Tournament on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
