The Generals got back in the win column in front of their own home fans Friday night, avenging a loss from their first meeting of the year. Heritage took a narrow 8-7 lead after the first quarter before erupting for 22 points over the next eight minutes to go up 30-16 at the break.

The Lady Generals were not as fortunate as they dropped a decision to their state-ranked rivals for the second time this season.

Heritage got 13 points from Collins, eight from Epps, three by Katie Coke and two each from Hollis, Dills and Ema Tanner.

RINGGOLD BOYS 67, HERITAGE 54

Back at home on Saturday, the Generals made a run in the third quarter to slice what had been a 12-point deficit down to 47-43 with 1:24 left in the period.

Broadrick began and ended the run with 3-point plays, while a basket by Gallman and a 3-pointer from the corner by Barrett made it a 47-43 game with 1:24 left in the quarter.

However, the Tigers countered with a 10-1 run to start the fourth and the Generals never threatened again.

Gallman had five threes and led all scorers with 24 points. Broadrick finished with 12 and Biddle scored eight, while six from Barrett, three from Armour and one by Travillian rounded out the scoring.

HERITAGE GIRLS 43, RINGGOLD 34

The first game on Saturday saw the Lady Generals grab an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. However, their advantage was down to six by halftime and it stood at one less than minute into the fourth.

Heritage dodged several bullets as Ringgold missed on four straight chances to take the lead before the Lady Generals’ inside duo of Collins and Mock took over down the stretch. The combined to score the final 11 points for their team.

Collins had a game-high 20 and Mock finished with 14. Dills had four points, Hollis had three and Epps finished with two.

The Heritage girls (4-6) were slated to take part in the Mistletoe Madness event at North Murray this week. Due to newspaper deadlines, however, coverage was not available to be provided in today’s edition.

Meanwhile, the Heritage boys (5-5) were scheduled to play in the Model Holiday Tournament next week.
