Heritage girls, Ringgold boys win at Heritage

The Heritage girls held off Gordon Lee to win a fiveschool meet at Heritage High School last Tuesday.

The Lady Generals finished with 81.5 points, while the Lady Trojans ended the meet at 79 points. Ringgold was third with 65, followed by Lakeview (40.5) and Saddle Ridge (10).

Mariah Evans had a big day for Heritage as she won the long jump (14-3), the 200 (29.57) and the 400 (1:08.75). Meanwhile, Carly Christman swept the 800 (2:57) and the 1600 (6:19) for the Navyand-Red.

Gordon Lee got first-place points from Callie Savadge in both the high jump (4-2) and the 100 hurdles (18.03). They also got wins from Pepper Metz in the 100 (13.88) and the 4x100 ‘A’ relay team (57.42).

Taylor Jackson won the discus for Ringgold (62-7.5), while the Lady Tigers also claimed victory in the 4x400 (5;02).

The day’s other winner was

Lakeview’s Darlynn Abraham, who captured first in the shot put (23-8.5).

Ringgold had a big day in the boys’ meet as they won eight events and took first place overall with 108 points. Heritage was second with 79, followed by Gordon Lee (57), Lakeview (23) and Saddle Ridge (6).

Cooper Moore won twice for the Tigers as he swept the shot put (32-5.5) and the discus (103-7). Grant Skinner also won a pair of events, taking first place in the 800 (2:36) and the 1600 (5:41). Nathaniel Lauck cleared 5-8 to win the high jump. Adam Mozingo circled the track in 59.26 to win the 400, while the Blue-and-White also claimed the win in the 4x400 (4:23).

Second-place Heritage picked up just one individual victory, that coming from Samuel Troutman in the 200 (28.27).

Dino Selimagic earned firstplace points in both the long jump (16-11) and the 100 hurdles (15.19) for Gordon Lee, while Maddox Ervin won the 100 (12.34) for Lakeview.
