Marsh House board of trustees meeting minutes

February 19, 2024, 5:30 pm, meeting by Zoom and in-person

David Boyle presided. The Minutes of the Marsh House Board of Trustees for February 19 were approved on a motion by Connie Forester and Joan Fowler.

Treasurer’s report: February — Income:$ 758.81, Expenses: $1,357.81. Balance in Checking: $32,822.90. The 10% for 2023 has been sent to the endowment fund. day, March 24, 3:00 pm.

Need more board members. Connie Forester has approached some.

Friends Newsletter in process. Stacey Suttle will write an article on recent happenings at the Marsh House. files and closets. Someone has requested to use a room for a video production. Our policy is that, if it benefits the House for publicity and is nonprofit, there may be no charge. For proprietar­y uses, there is a charge. Stacey has led several tours, one for 15 people. There is a tour request for April 25 for 30 people. We will arrange to have several docents to lead tours in smaller groups. The fallen cedar destroyed the carriage house and carriage in a recent storm. Volunteers came forward to clean it up, probably this week. Some of the wood can be used for making bowls by our woodworker friend, David Autry.

Interpreta­tion. Looking for a few new docents.. We are now open by appointmen­t and tour duties are not frequent. A Mother’s Day Tea Event, Saturday, May 11, was discussed with the possibilit­y of offering a Fashion Show.

Building and Grounds: Porch floor is due replacemen­t. Priorities this year include solar coatings for west windows, exterior painting, plaster and wall paper repairs. We are looking for a way to mount the cast iron bell given to us by the Walker County Messenger. Exterior painting is out for bid.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

Next board meeting: Monday, April 22, 6:00 pm on Zoom and at the Marsh House.
