MS track teams on bell lap of season

Heritage, Gordon Lee, Saddle Ridge and LaFayette were joined by Dalton in a five-school meet at Heritage High School last Monday night.

The Dalton boys took first place with 126 points. Heritage was second with 98, followed by Gordon Lee (43), Saddle Ridge (10) and LaFayette (5).

Gunner Cornwell won two events for the Generals. He crossed the line first in the 800 (2:36) and also earned the win in the 1600 (5:38). The only other win of the night for Heritage came in the discus as Caden Watson bested the field with a throw of 97-1.5.

Gordon Lee won three events and all by the same athlete. Dino Selimagic took first place in the long jump (17-9) and the shot put (35-5) before later racing to the win in the 100 hurdles (14.85).

On the girls’ side, Dalton (110.5) held off Heritage (92.5) to claim the victory. Gordon Lee (73) was third, while LaFayette (4) and Saddle Ridge (3) rounded out the standings.

As in the boys’ meet, the distance races were won by Heritage as Carly Christman took first in the 800 (2:48) and the 1600 (5:38). Adison

Steadman also took first place in the shot put for the Lady Generals (25-5), while Brooklyn Bowling cleared 4-4 in the high jump and won first place on a tiebreaker.

Gordon Lee’s Callie Savadge was one of three athletes to clear 4-4 in the high jump, though she would lose out to Bowling in the tiebreaker. Savadge picked up first-place points in the 100 hurdles later in the meet with a time of 17.69. The Lady Trojans also got a win in the long jump by Pepper Metz (14-6).

DADE GIRLS, RINGGOLD BOYS WIN AT LFO

LFO High School played host to a four-school meet last Tuesday and it was the Dade Lady Wolverines and the Ringgold Tigers earning victories.

The Lady Wolverines won the girls’ meet with 67 points, just edging out Ringgold (65) for the top spot. Lakeview (29) finished third, while Saddle Ridge (6) was fourth.

Winning individual events for Ringgold was Taylor Jackson in the discus (59-4) and Lulu White in the 400 (1:16.33). The Lady Tigers also took first place in the 4x100 (57.44) and the 4x400 (5:10).

As for the Lady Warriors,

their lone victory came from Darlynn Abraham in the shot put (24-0).

Saddle Ridge got five points from Hadley Hodge as she won the 1600 in a time of 6:37.

Ringgold’s boys amassed 71 points to claim the victory. Lakeview was second with 45 points, while Dade (16.5) took third ahead of Saddle Ridge (5.5).
