Mercy Health services available at local YMCA
Mercy Health is bringing specialized services to the Wapakoneta YMCA Family Medicine and in doing so, increasing access to healthcare services.
The expansion and renovations of the YMCA, New Vision Labs, radiology, and physical and occupational therapy were added to Mercy Health - Wapakoneta YMCA Family Medicine. Mercy Health will now also be offering high-quality, specialized services for cardiology, general surgery, pain management, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and urology. Those appointments include new patient consultations, followups, and minor or minimally invasive procedures. Wednesday marked their first day for specialized services with urology appointments.
"It was a really part of the goal to immerse Mercy Health more into the community and making sure that people have access to those services" since offering family medicine in 2018, said Jo Shough, Senior Practice Manager for Spencerville and Wapakoneta YMCAS. Now Mercy Health at the Wapakoneta YMCA is "a one-stop shop for health care."
Holly Borchers-ellinger, a nurse practitioner with Mercy Health Urology, said "I've worked with St. Rita's for 14 years and I'm just
really excited to see us open satellite services… By branching out here, our patients have better access to care."
Borchers-ellingers added their elderly patients are happy they no longer have to drive to Lima and can receive the care they need right in their community.
Mercy Health - Wapakoneta YMCA Family Medicine is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are located at 1100 Defiance St., Wapakoneta. New patients are being accepted. To make an appointment, call (419) 996-5100.
