-

The Auglaize County Historical Society and Riverside Art Center present "Working at the White House: Stories and Lessons Learned" with Deb Eschmeyer on Monday, April 26, at 7 p.m., on the Historical Society Facebook page. The program is free and open to the public and is presented in conjunction with the Ohio History Connection's traveling exhibit, "OHIO WOMEN VOTE: 100 Years of Change," on display at the Art Center through May 1.

A native of New Knoxville, Deb Eschmeyer is a social entrepreneur with a relentless passion, and has dedicated her career to building a better social contract. Eschmeyer served in the Obama White House as Executive Director of Let's Move!, a public health initiative created by First Lady Michelle Obama, which focused on supporting healthy kids and families. She also was President Obama's Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition, focused on improving the federal nutrition landscape.

To access the event, simply go to the Auglaize County Historical Society's Facebook page (also accessible via https://www.facebook.com/auglaizecountyhistory ) a little before 7pm on April 26. The program will appear as the most current post on the page. Make sure you adjust your volume (on the screen), if needed.

States Historical Society administrator Rachel Barber, "How exciting that an Auglaize County native has accomplished so much-both in the private and public sectors--to ensure that America's children and families are healthy. We're all looking forward to hearing about her work with President Obama's administration."

Eschmeyer's presentation is the final program in conjunction with "Ohio Women Vote.” Curated by the Ohio History Connection, "Ohio Women Vote" appears at Riverside Art Center, 3 W. Auglaize St., throughout April. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Riverside Art Center's operating hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 4 p.m, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Designed and curated by the Ohio History Connection, OHIO WOMEN VOTE examines and celebrates the path taken by Ohio women to achieve the right to vote, as well as the history of civic action led by a diverse spectrum of Ohio women throughout American history. This narrative will begin with

the first women's rights convention in 1848 and

carry through the present day. While telling this story, the exhibit will ask visitors to consider the intersections between various women's movements and other American social movements such as the Civil Rights Movement and the Temperance Movement.

In addition to her role as founder and partner in Original Strategies, Eschmeyer is a Senior Fellow and Head of Innovation at the Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems at Arizona State University. Eschmeyer most recently served as the vice president of Communications Affairs for and Danone Community North America, the largest public benefit corporation and Certified B Corp in the world, where she oversaw brand PR, strategy, programming, and communications for its portfolio of 20 brands.

Prior to serving in the Obama Administration, Deb co-founded Foodcorps, a national nonprofit that places Americorps service members into schools to connect kids to healthful food. While growing Foodcorps into more than 500 schools in 18 states, she started an organic fruit and vegetable farm on 22 acres with her husband in their hometown of New Knoxville. Fortune and Food & Wine selected Eschmeyer as one of "The Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink," permanently changing the way we eat and how we think about food. She is a recipient of the James Beard Foundation Leadership Award and the Xavier University Magis Award.
