Summer sale event is Saturday
The Secret Cool Down Sale is happening Saturday, July 31 for one day only.
Dena Wireman, office manager at Haehn Florist and Greenhouses said currently, Casa Chic, Craft Boutique, Haehn Florist, Joyce Ann's, Riverside Art Center, Rhinestone Lipgloss, Urban Elephant and Wish are the onlyshops participating, though Wireman wouldn't be surprised if more members decide to participate between now and then.
"We just try to create community events," she said.
This is the first time for the Secret Cool Down Sale. "It's to get [customers] out and shopping, supporting their small businesses, their local shops," Wireman said, adding she was inspired to try this after reading about the idea in a magazine.
Shoppers at any of the stores will receive a coupon for a discount of anywhere from 10-50 percent. To be clear, every shopper will get a discount. The size of the discount is randomized, as shoppers will select random business cards with the size of the discount on them. The sale will last all day.
"We wanted to kind of kick start beforeschool shopping, get them in the mood for that," she said. "Sometimes we get a lot of newer product coming in not that people don't see until later, so it's good to get them in (stores) earlier."
Should the event go well, Wireman said
she'd like to make it an annual event for the last Saturday of July.
