Botkins boys 2nd at SCAL meet

ANNA — Fort Loramie edged Botkins 35-46 for the

Shelby County Athletic League boys team championsh­ip Saturday.

The Redskins and Trojans both placed five runners among the top 15, but Fort Loramie had four runners among the top 10.

The rest of the field included Anna (86 points), Houston (104), Russia (109)

and Jackson Center (152). Fairlawn did not have a complete team.

Anna’s Hayden Schmidt ran the course in 16:00 to become the medalist.

Runners for Botkins included Keaton Schnippel (fifth in 17:04), Parker Schnippel (eighth in 17:14), Carter Pleiman (ninth in 17:25), Shane Weatherhea­d (11th in 17:38), Carson

Brown (13th in 17:41), Grant Flora (16th in 17:51), Cole

Steinke (19th in 18:03), Collin Doseck (22nd in 18:23), Austin Rogers (25th in 18:38), Jacob Grunden (40th in 19:34), Christian Denning (58th in 21:30), Jacob Yenser (63rd in 21:44), Ethan Gillette (67th in 22:37),

Dylan Topp (68th in 23:00), Noah Topp (70th in 23:28), Alex Beem (78th in 26:52)

and Corey Kidwell (79th in 26:57).

Western Buckeye League

KENTON — Wapakoneta placed sixth during the Western Buckeye League Championsh­ip on Saturday.

Defiance won the WBL team title after scoring 44 points. The rest of the field included Van Wert (56),

Shawnee (62), Ottawaglan­dorf (108), St. Marys Memorial (140), Wapokoneta (177), Celina (196), Kenton (207), Bath (209) and Elida (273).
