Arlan L. Walker, 78
Arlan L. Walker, 78, of Wapakoneta, died peacefully at his home, 4:20 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021.
He was born Oct. 16, 1943, in Charleston, WV, the son of Breman Clarence and Beulah Mae (Holmes) Walker, who preceded
him in death. On Nov. 4, 1972, he married
Doris Jean Sherven, and she survives.
Other survivors include two children: Nicole D. (Josh) House, Milford, OH, Eric L. (Crystal) Walker, Wapakoneta; five grandchildren: Madeline Jean House, Allison Christine House, Gabrielle Nicole House, Arlan James ‘A.J.’ Walker, and Henry Lee Walker; a sister, Linda (BJ Benach) Walker, Henderson,
NV; a sister-in-law,
Sue Walker: many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Ivan, Rishel, Theodore ‘Ted’, and Glen;
and three sisters: Theda Walker, Loretta Conner, and Emogene Walker.
Arlan retired as a welder at General Dynamics, Lima. He also worked at Chrysler Airtemp, Dayton, and
was on the staff at the Auglaize Co. Veterans Service Commission.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry, and was stationed
in Germany. He later was a member of the
Ohio National Guard. Arlan was a member
of the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445, and
the Amvets Post #333. His other memberships included the
Hamer Lodge, #167 F. and a.m.; the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, the Antioch Shrine,
Dayton, OH, and the Kentucky Colonels.
He always was willing to help someone, and enjoyed fishing,
hunting, woodworking, gardening, and traveling. Arlan was an excellent cook, and
one of his favorite dishes was his biscuits and gravy. He liked country music,
especially George Jones, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021,
at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory,
St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery,
where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral
home, where a masonic memorial service will be 7 p.m.
