The St. Joseph Sunbeam—five senior girls, through the efforts of Sister Mary Clarencia, were taken through the telephone building last Wednesday afternoon. Upon entering the building these girls were told to go upstairs. At the top of the stairs was a room in which both the local and long distance operators were
seated. This room is known as the switchboard rom. The local operators were taking care of all the calls in the city and vicinity of Wapakoneta. Th e girls were
shown how the board works for local calls. The long distance operators were busy taking calls from cities and places distant from Wapakoneta; therefore, the
lady who showed them the various fixtures could not go into very much detail about these intricate switch
boards. Next they were taken downstairs where they saw the cables that go into the ground for two blocks surrounding the building and then into the air. The girls were also in the office where they were permitted to see the various ledgers and ways of keeping accounts. One girl typed on a noiseless typewriter. This class was the first to go through the building since the close of the war.
