Lima Symphony Orchestra ready to perform for audiences again
LIMA – The Lima Symphony Orchestra returns to the concert stage
on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center at 7 Town
Square for a Latin-inspired program. The program, “From Mexico to Madrid,” will be led by Music
Director Andrew Crust and feature virtuoso guitar soloist, Colin
Davin. Following the concert there will be a post-concert reception on the Mezzanine level of Crouse Hall that all ticket holders are welcome to attend.
Granados’ Intermezzo from Goyescas opens the program, setting the
stage for an evening of Latin-inspired music. Next, we journey to the gardens of Aranjuez, Spain with a showcase of Spanish guitar technique in Rodrigo’s Concerto de Aranjuez featuring soloist Colin Davin. Spanish-inspired works by Bizet and Massenet begin the
second half of the program, and the program closes with Marquez’s vivacious Danzón No. 2, painting a romantic vision
of the ballrooms of Veracruz, Mexico.
Hailed as “the real thing, a player with a virtuoso’s technique, a deeply expressive
musicianship, and a probing imagination” (American Record Guide) who “has the distinct ability to wring the depths of
expressiveness from all that he plays” (Classical Guitar Magazine),
and for his “precision, musical intelligence and passion” (Cleveland Classical), guitarist Colin Davin
has emerged as one of today’s most dynamic young artists.
Davin is co-head of the guitar department at the Cleveland Institute
of Music and previously served on the faculty of Baldwin Wallace University.
