Annual Redskin Revue will feature high school talent

- BY ALEX GUERRERO STAFF WRITER

If you enjoy America’s Got Talent - or Britain’s Got Talent or France’s Got Talent or Australia’s Got Talent

or any other iteration of the show you’re in luck because the Redskin

Revue is coming up Saturday, Nov. 13 and will start in the high school’s

Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m. The show will feature 24 acts with students from fifth-12th-grades.

The event will feature some students singing solo, students playing instruments, students dancing,

siblings playing with their own band and even one person with their talented dog.

Before anyone else takes the stage, Redskin Revue will kick off with a Disney medley performed by Harmony in Motion.

“I think of it as a celebration of the many talents kids here have at Wapak,” Marissa Lewis, high school choir director and the person in charge of the event, said. This will be her first year hosting the revue.

“I like the idea of being able to bring whatever you’re good at to

the table, even if it’s not the same

as what your peers are good at.

But just because she’s new to the district and wasn’t familiar with

the event didn’t mean she wasn’t

excited. And become there haven’t been many live shows or performances over the last 1.5 years she was especially excited for it.

She wanted the talent show to help students highlight their individuality and also wanted a large

turnout to celebrate them and all “the awesome things that Wapak students have to offer.”

“Students are really excited,” she said. “They didn’t get to have this event last year because of capacity restrictions and performance restrictions.”

This will be the first time the show is open to middle-schoolers, something Lewis hopes will build camaraderie for students and inspire younger children.

She also hopes the talent show will be a confidence-builder for anyone signed up.

“I think it takes a certain level of tenacity to be willing to put yourself out there in front of a crowd of people,” she said.

Besides that, she wanted students to gain appreciation for what the district and area has to offer.

If you would like to attend, tickets, $5 each, will be available at the door. You can also visit Lewis in her classroom. Because of capacity

size, 650 tickets are available.
