Dance Center brings home the hardware
The Dance Centre’ had its first full competition with all their routine on March 4-6 at Energy National Dance Competition in Ft. Wayne, IN at the Arts United Center.
Friday afternoon started off with the soloists. Lauren Manger competed her Jazz solo and received a High Gold award, 1st place overall in the Senior Jazz category, & 5th place overall in the Senior Intermediate solo category. Avery Place competed her Jazz solo and received a High Gold award. Alysha Katterheinrich competed her Lyrical solo and received a High Gold award and 8th overall in the Senior Advanced category. Madison Sams competed her Hip Hop solo and received a High Gold award and 6th overall in the Senior Advanced category. Dylan Snyder competed her tap solo and received a High Gold award. Dylan also competed her Contemporary solo and received a High Gold award, 4th overall in the Senior Advanced category and a Standout Judges Award! Giovanna Mumaw competed her Jazz solo and received a Platinum award and 4th overall in the Novice Petite Jazz category. Sparrow Stubbs competed her Jazz solo and receive a Platinum award, 1st place overall in the Novice Petite Jazz category and a Technique award! Masyn Swiger competed her Jazz solo and received a High Gold award and 7th overall in the Intermediate Teen Jazz category.
Saturday’s competition started off with The Dance Centre’s only Duet “Tired Of My Grief” danced by Josh Tabler and Dylan Snyder. They received a platinum award, 1st place in the contemporary category and 1st place overall Senior Elite Duet. Dylan and Josh were also given an Entertainment award for their duet by the judges. Josh and Dylan finished in the top 3 for the 13 and up Improv competition. They were given scholarships to an Energy Summer Intensive.
“Piece By Piece” a Senior Lyrical group receive a Platinum award and 1st place overall. Michele Wolke and Lindsay Thomas were given a special Choreography Award for the routine “Piece By Piece”.
“Impossible Year” a Senior Contemporary dance received Platinum award and 1st place overall Contemporary large group. They also received a Standout Award given out by the 3 judges.
“Shake Your Body” a Teen Jazz routine received a Platinum award and 3rd overall Intermediate Large group.
“Stepford Wives” a Senior Jazz group receive a Platinum award.
“Bring That Bounce Back” a Teen Hip Hop routine received a Platinum award.
“Dem Beats” a Teen Jazz Production received a Platinum award and 1st overall Teen Jazz Production. They also received a Standout Award given out by the 3 judges.
“Heathens” a Senior Hip Hop Production Group received a Platinum award and 1st place overall Senior Production. “G3” a Senior Tap routine received a Platinum award and 1st place Senior Large Group.
“It’s Showtime” a Teen Acro dance received a High Gold and 2nd overall Teen Intermediate Small Group.
Sunday ended the weekend with our younger dancers & some TOP awards for The Dance Centre’. “Villains” a Petite Jazz routine received a Platinum award and 1st place overall Petite Large Group. This group was also given a Standout Award by the 3 judges.
“My Own Drum” a Petite Hip Hop Production received a Platinum award and 1st place overall Petite Hip Hop Production. “Praise” a Junior Jazz routine received a High Gold award and 1st place overall Intermediate Jazz large group.
“Bring On The Fire” a Junior Acro Production received a High Gold award.
Lauren Healy competed her Junior Lyrical Solo and received a High Gold award.
Leah Slife competed her Junior Lyrical Solo and received a Platinum award, 4th place overall and a Standout Award by the judges.
Kaylee Hawk placed in the top 6 for the 12 and under Improve Competition.
The Dance Centre’ was awarded a Scholarship to compete at the Energy National Competition at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio in July.
Two of The Dance Centre’s routines “Bring On The Fire” and “Dem Beats” were given the Triple E award! The Energy Elite Experience is an invite-only opportunity in New York City July 17-23. Participants will take class at the world renowned Broadway Dance Center, meet and talk with leading agents from Mcdonald Selznick Associates and Independent Artist Entertainment as well as college recruiters from some of the nation’s biggest dance schools (Hussian College, Los Angeles and PACE University).
The Dance Centre’ had three of the top routines of the entire weekend. The Best Open routine went to “Stepford Wives.” The Best Lyrical, Modern or Contemporary routine went to “Impossible Year.” The Best Hip Hop routine went to “Heathens.”
The next competition is set for Friday through Sunday in Springfield.
