Viola Ann Dietz, 100

Viola Ann Dietz, 100, died 4:55 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Van Crest St. Marys.

She was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Ft. Loramie,

OH, the daughter of John and Anna (Gaier) Aselage, who preceded her in death. On May 26, 1945, she married Edward L. Dietz who preceded her on Nov. 11, 2008.

Survivors include six children, Jim (Pat) Dietz of Northfield, IL, Lawrence “Larry” (Lois) Dietz of Botkins,

Sharon (Tom) Schnippel of Russels Point,

Diane (Tom) Reiss of Mccartyvil­le, Mark (Kaye) Dietz, of Botkins, and Lora (Dennis) Heitman of Anna; 23 grandchild­ren; 64 great grandchild­ren, four great great grandchild­ren; and two sisters, Esther Dietz, and Dorothy Poeppelman.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Josephine (Ben) Doseck, Marie (Norbert) Francis, Agnes (Ralph) Francis, Henry (Edna) Aselage, Hilda (Urban) Poeppelman,

Ben (Betty) Aselage, Paul Aselage, Clarissa (Herbert) Barhorst,

and two brother-inlaws, Marion Dietz and Cletus Poeppelman.

A homemaker, Viola was a member of the

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,

Botkins. While her children were growing up, she stayed

busy being a farm wife and also gardening and canning vegetables for the year. For fun, she enjoyed playing marbles, Euchre, Rum, and Sheephead. She loved sharing time with family,

especially all of her many grandchild­ren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, her grandson Fr. Kyle

Schnippel officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery,

Botkins. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m., Monday,

at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory,

St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta. Memorials may be
