Botkins Beats Rams, Gets Swept by State Power FL

BOTKINS – The homestandi­ng Botkins volleyball team swept nonleague foe Upper Scioto Valley Saturday.

The Lady Trojans improved to 6-7 overall with the 25-8, 25-11, 25-23 victory. USV dropped to 3-5 with the defeat.

Botkins setter Janel Platfoot dished out 29 assists and mustered six digs, while also serving two aces.

Trojans Jana Metz, Peyton Platfoot and Maddilyn Frey each hit five kills. Ella Brown contribute­d three kills, seven digs and three aces.

“I am proud of my kids,” said Lady Trojan head coach Sara Brown. “We passed well and had few dropped balls.

“Freshman Madison Loy came in and showed a lot of confidence by serving the last three points of the match,” she noted.

The Botkins junior varsity beat USV in two sets 25-18, 25-15.

The Trojans (1-5 SCL) visited league leader Fort Loramie (11-1, 6-0 SCL) Monday. “We need to keep this confidence going into Monday when we face Ft. Loramie,” said Brown.

FT. LORAMIE – The visiting Botkins volleyball team got swept by Shelby County League leader Fort Loramie Monday evening.

The Lady Trojans dropped to 6-8 overall and 1-6 in the SCL with the 25-11, 25-13, 25-9 defeat.

State-ranked FL improved to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in SCL action after the sweep.

Botkins setter Janel Platfoot passed out 13 assists and mustered four digs. Trojan Maddilyn Frey hit four kills and served one ace.

“Fort Loramie is a great team,” said Lady Trojan head coach Sara Brown. “They pass well and know how to put the ball down. I was proud of how we were able to do better blocking their slides in the second set.”

The Botkins junior varsity lost to the Redskins 25-11, 25-15.

The Trojans visit non-league foe Hardin Northern Tuesday night.
