„■ New model vehicles sold in Auglaize County during January numbered 82, according to records at the automobile title department at the Auglaize County Court House. Of this number, 62 were 1949 models, while 20 were 1948 models. The number of cars sold, by model: Buick, 10; Plymouth, 5; Pontiac, 5; Ford, 11; Chevrolet, 9; Studebaker, 9; Dodge, 3; Hudson, 3; Frazier, 1; Oldsmobile, 4; Desoto, 2; Lincoln, 1; Packard, 2; Nash, 1; trucks, 14; motorbikes, 2.

„■ Jacob Zint, local weatherman. Reported the weather statistics for the month of January as follows: Precipitat­ion totaled 3.26 inches. The seven inches of snow that fell for the month was four inches short of the normal 11 inches for a January. The highest temperatur­e, on January 20, met the record high of 59 degrees, which was on the same date as in 1951. The low for the month was on January 13, when the temperatur­e fell to minus 4. Winds reached their highest speed on January 27, when they reached 51 miles per hour.

„■ The Wapakoneta City Recreation Board had its regular monthly meeting Monday, and accepted the resignatio­n of Joe Allen, recreation director, with expression­s of regret. Applicatio­ns for the position of recreation director will be accepted until March 1.
