Joey Truesdale Signs to Tiffin to Further Football Career

- By Drew Niekamp

WAPAKONETA-On Wednesday, Joey Truesdale signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and football career at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio.

“First off, I want to thank God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with this opportunity. Making a college decision can be difficult for some people, but once I took my visit and prayed about it, I knew Tiffin was it for me. It felt most like home with a team that wants to be great and do great things,” said Truesdale. “The thing that stood out to me were the people. They have a new staff coming in with the new head coach, Coach Ekkens. Coach Ekkens made my whole visit about developing me into being the greatest man as possible, not just a football player. The campus is filled with great people and academic support. I can see myself being very successful at Tiffin,” added Truesdale. “I’m really looking forward to coming in and working hard with my teammates and coaches. Tiffin is filled with guys that want to work hard and get better every day. I’m excited to come in and work with the guys and compete.”

Truesdale was Western Buckeye League Defensive Back of the Year last fall, while earning 1st Team Northwest District and All-ohio Honorable Mention. In the classroom, Truesdale plans to major in exercise science and then will go to grad school in hopes of becoming a chiropractor.

“I want to thank my teammates for pushing me past my limits and helping me become the best player I can be. I want to thank all my coaches for supporting me and teaching me everything. I want to thank my parents, Todd and Amee, for always believing me, caring for me, and supporting me. My parents and my sister, Sydnee, have made this process great and helped me make my decision easier. My sister in law, Shelby, and my niece and nephew, JJ and Ellie have also made this process amazing. They’ve supported me the whole way through,” noted Truesdale. “Finally, I want to thank Coach Moyer and Coach Truesdale for always being there for me since I’ve been in third grade being a ball boy. Without those two making a huge impact on my life I don’t know where I would be today,” finalized Truesdale.
