Trojans Downed at Fort Loramie

FORT LORAMIE- On Monday, the Botkins Softball team was run-ruled 24-2 in five innings by Fort Loramie in a Shelby County Athletic League game.

The home-standing Lady Redskins got off to a quick start in the first when they scored seven runs from a C Hoying homerun, L Barhorst double, a walk, and an error. Botkins’ Kambree Walters homered in the second and singled in the third for the Trojans only two runs, however, Fort Loramie responded with 11 runs in the bottom of the third and five in the fourth for the victory.

Madison Loy zoned the circle first for Botkins and suffered the loss. The freshman went three and one-third innings, giving up 21 runs (six earned) on 13 hits, sitting down three and walking four. As a team, the squad allowed eight errors in the field. At the plate, Walters led going two-for-two with two runs batted in.

Ruhenkamp earned the win for the Lady Skins. She allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, while punching out nine batters and walking two. Offensivel­y, Hoying, Goubeaux, and Ruhenkamp each collected three hits. Barhorst managed two hits. In the field, Fort Loramie committed no errors.

With the loss, Botkins dropped to 8-5 (3-3 in SCAL) and will look to bounce back when they welcome Russia (8-6, 6-1 in SCAL) on Tuesday in another league game. Fort Loramie improved to 9-5 (5-1 in SCAL) and will host New Bremen (7-6) on Tuesday in a non-conference game.

FORT LORAMIETHE Botkins Baseball squad was beaten 11-1 Monday night by Fort Loramie in a sixinning Shelby County Athletic League game.

The Redskins built a convincing four run lead in the first inning when Jace Ruhenkamp walked, Alex Boerger singled, and a Botkins error. They scored two more in the fifth, but Botkins was able to score their first and only run courtesy of a Levi Frey single, which scored Corey Koenig. Fort Loramie responded in the bottom of the sixth with five runs on four hits, which came from Teddy Gaier, Lucas Brandewie, Sammy Goubaeux, and Brock Mccumber.

Frey took the loss for the Trojans. The starter went the full game, allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking four. Frey and Carson Steinke each collected a hit for Botkins.

Boerger earned the win for the Redskins. He gave up two hits and one run over five innings, sitting down seven and walking four. Offensivel­y, Boerger and Goubeax each collected two hits, while Ruhenkamp and Brandewie both managed to drive in two runs.

With the loss, Botkins fell to 3-10 (2-4 in SCAL) with their fourth straight loss and will look to break that streak when they host Spencervil­le (2-9) on Tuesday in a non-league game.

Fort Loramie improved to 11-3 (5-2 in SCAL) and will welcome Graham (10-4) on Thursday in a non-conference game.
