Evelyn Francis Elizabeth Stemen, 89

Evelyn Francis Elizabeth Stemen, 89, formerly of Wapakoneta, died 1:10 p.m., Wed. May 8, 2024, at Vista Springs Quail Highlands, Painesville, OH. She was born March 10, 1935, in Pusheta Twp., Auglaize Co., OH, the daughter of J. Martin & Lauretta Juliana (Sammetinger) Lunz, who preceded her in death. On October 23, 1955, she married Loren William Stemen, who died March 25, 2015.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Ann (Brian) Fulton, Concord, OH, 2 grandchildren, Brett & Sarah Fulton, Concord, OH,

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Roy (Violet) Lunz.

Evelyn was a bookkeeper for Pepsi in Wapakoneta and later Lima, retiring in 1977, and then went to work with her husband, Loren, as a bookkeeper at their S & H Farm Supply company until

2014. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pusheta Twp., where she served on the Ladies Aide Society, Fellowship League, sang in the Choir, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was very active in her church and community, her memberships included Wapakoneta Business Professional Women’s Group, Wapakoneta

Civic League, and Genealogical Society at the Auglaize County Public Library. She was a 1953 graduate of Blume High School. She loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, baking, cooking, and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday May 18, 2024, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pusheta Rd., Wapakoneta, with Pastor David Griebel officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
