Florene Phillips

PRAIRIE GROVE — Florene Phillips, 88, of Prairie Grove, died Jan.8, 2012, in Fayettevil­le.

She was born July 14, 1923, in Prairie Grove, the daughter of Ollie Jackson and Lillie Belle Patterson Bradley.

She was baptized along with her husband at Fall Creek Church by L.V. Vickery.

She worked for many years at Kelly Canning Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larence Phillips; one son, Thurman Phillips; one nephew Marty Phillips; one daughter-in-law, Marjean Phillips.

Survivors include four sons, Larence Onnie Phillips, Jack Lee Phillips and Daniel Keith Phillips, all of Prairie Grove, and Mart Shannon Phillips of Dallas, Texas; eight daughters, Rosalee Rouse of Fayettevil­le, Evalena Nall of Siloam Springs, Norma Rita Sherry and Ima Dean Jones, both of West Fork, Shirlene Virginia Logsdon, Colleen Carrol Campbell and Edna Bernice Headrick, all of Prairie Grove and Teresa Diane Reynolds of Eufaula, Okla.; one sister, Marie Anthony of California; 46 grandchild­ren, 117 greatgrand­children; and 17 great-great grandchild­ren; and her special friend, Jack Eddy.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 11 at New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery near Prairie Grove. There will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Phillips Family Memorial Fund c/o Arvest Bank.

Pallbearer­s will be Jasper Reynolds, Keith Phillips, Jason Skaggs, Joshua Smith, Lance Skaggs, Jerome Smith, Chris Jones, Ronnie Sherry, Travis Phillips, Philip Rouse and Kevin Nall.

Lavona Lee (Archer) Rains

SPRINGDALE — Lavona Lee (Archer) Rains, 80, of Springdale, died Jan. 8, 2012, at home. She was born in Papillion, Neb., Jan. 23, 1931 to Leroy Archer and Marjorie Hester Meacham. She was raised in the northwest Arkansas area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; one son, two sons-in-law; and two grandsons.

Survivors include three sisters, Bethany Mcnair of Lincoln, Ada Baker of Fayettevil­le, Joyce Griggs and Johnny of Springdale; one son, Mayor Buddy Curry and Sherrie of Johnson; ve daughters, Dollie Mcdonald of Mukwonago, Wis., Gloria Garcia of Navasota, Texas, Marquita Sorce of Berryville, Ravanda Selby and John and Sheryl Cossey and Tony, both of Springdale; 19 grandchild­ren; 39 great-grandchild­ren; and four great-great-grandchild­ren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Paul Albert Tabor

LINCOLN — Paul Albert Tabor, 80, of Lincoln, died Jan. 8, 2012, in Fayettevil­le. He was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Altanta, Ill., the son of Emery and Vena Morey Tabor.

He was a Korean War veteran and had served as Commander for the American Legion. He was on the rescue squad in Illinois; he was an avid hunter and loved animals. His favorite hobbies were baking, bird watching and entering sweepstake­s. He was a master plumber in Illinois and Arkansas. He loved his family and loved teasing his grandkids and then his great grandchild­ren. He was greatly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty June Tabor; one son, Ralph Gary Tabor of Lincoln; three daughters, Paula Lewis and husband Charlie, Theresa Hudgens and husband, Joe, all of Lincoln and Lisa Wood and husband, Mike of Prairie Grove; one brother, Emery Tabor; two sisters, Lola Elam and Betty Diekhoff both of Peoria, Ill.; 12 grandchild­ren; and 11 greatgrand­children.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, with Joe Hudgens of ciating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.

John Nolas Edgar Pyle Sr.

LINCOLN — John Nolas Edgar Pyle Sr. of Lincoln, died Jan. 5, 2012, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Michele Pyle; four sons; two daughters; one brother; three sisters; and nine grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held Jan. 7 at Christian Faith Fellowship in Lincoln. Cremation was by Epting Funeral Home of Fayettevil­le.

Carolyn Kay Pierson Schachle

PRAIRIE GROVE — Carolyn Kay Pierson Schachle, 52, of Prairie Grove, died Jan. 7, 2012, in Prairie Grove.

She was born April 6, 1959, in Fayettevil­le.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Author Pierson.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Thompson of Farmington; three sons, Jack Calvin Patrick, David Allen Barron and Kenneth Earl Barron all of Fayettevil­le; her father and mother, H.E. and Sarah of Prairie Grove; one brother, Henry Jr. Pierson also of Prairie Grove; and seven grandchild­ren.

A funeral service was held Jan. 10 at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial was in the Garrett Creek Cemetery.

Jessie Mae Hunton

PRAIRIE GROVE — Jessie Mae Hunton, 89, of Prairie Grove, died Jan 10, 2012. She was born Oct. 5, 1922 to the late Lonnie and Alma Smith Dickenson and was raised in the Johnson Community near Shawnee, Okla.

During WWII, Jessie worked as a welder in the shipyards in Richmond, Calif., building Liberty ships when she met her husband, Floyd. After moving to Prairie Grove in 1945 the couple became successful poultry and cattle farmers. Jessie loved her work and always said that her vacation was her work. She was interested in politics and was a life-long Democrat. She and her husband were also members of the Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hunton; four sisters, Maurine Hale, Lena Washington, Ruth Goodnight and Bessie Melton; two brothers, Lonnie Gene Dickenson and Vernon Dickenson.

Survivors include three children, daughter and son-in-law Janie and Dwayne Webb of Dutch Mills; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Karen Hunton of Prairie Grove and daughter and son-in-law Judy and Ron Moore of Prairie Grove; 10 grandchild­ren; 16 great-grandchild­ren and two great-great-grandchild­ren; three sisters, Myrtle Hood and Frankie Bland, both of Shawnee, Okla., and Alene Vasquez of Sand Springs, Okla.

The family is requesting that donations be made to the Lincoln Consolidat­ed Schools scholarshi­p fund in memory of Jessie Hunton. The recipient of the scholarshi­p will be a student studying in the vocational eld of Agricultur­e or Family and Consumer Science.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Prairie Grove.
