FARMINGTON — Registration to play Tee ball, baseball and softball in the Farmington summer league opened Jan. 2 and continues through Feb. 17.

Farmington will continue as a part of the Washington County Civic League and the Northwest Arkansas Girls Softball Association but for the first time this year, the program itself will be run by the city of Farmington and games will be played at the new sports complex on Southwinds Drive.

Jenna Innis, Farmington’s facility manager and program coordinator, will serve as Farmington’s representative for the two organizations and also will be Farmington’s coordinator for all Tee ball, softball and baseball games.

Applications will be available at city hall and online at the city’s website, www. cityoffarmingtonar.com. The city also will have sign-ups on two dates at Ledbetter Intermediate School: 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 14 and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Registration fees vary according to sport and age and are as follows:

Boys (age on April 30, 2012) — 5- and 6- year- old Tee ball $ 45; 7- and 8-year-old machine pitch $ 55; 9- and 10-year-old, 11- and 12-yearold $55; 13-, 14- and 15-yearold, $65.

Girls (age on Jan. 1, 2012) — $45 for 5- and 6-year-old Tee ball; $55 for all other leagues, including 7- and 8-year-old coach pitch, 9- and 10-yearold, 11- and 12- year- old, 13- and 14-year-old and 15and 16-year-old.

The Tee Ball fee includes a team T-shirt and awards at the end of the season.

There is a $ 100 cap on registrations per family and a $5 discount for each additional sibling. A $ 25 late registration fee will be assessed after Feb. 17 and applications will not be accepted after Feb. 24.

All players must bring a copy of their birth certificate when they register.

The city will have scholarship money this year for Farmington families who need financial assistance to play summer ball and scholarship applications will be available at city hall and during the Ledbetter sign-up days.

Farmington Mayor Ernie Penn, City Attorney Steve Tennant and former city Alderman Roy Hummel and his wife, Betty, have all committed to donate $1,000 per year for three years for summer ball scholarships. Other scholarships are available through Pagnozzi Charities.

Innis said the city also is asking for donations of used sports equipment and these items can be dropped off at Ledbetter on the two signup dates. Old bats, gently used gloves and cleats will be accepted.
