Church Hosts ‘Secret Sister’ Party

There was a potluck and administra­tive board meeting following morning services Jan. 8 at Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln.

The Secret Sister Reveal Party was held Jan. 10.

Happy birthday to Mary Alice Pitts on Jan. 9.

Services began with “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus” and the call to worship from Genesis 1 and Mark 1.

The scripture reading was Psalm 29.

Following the joys and concerns in which we remember those who are unable to join us or are facing trials and health concerns, the choir sang “Love Lifted Me.”

“Standing on the Promises” and the affirmatio­n of faith.

Ms. Lee led Children’s Time with several young visitors and a story about the others who came to visit and honor the baby Jesus. Then, everyone joined in “Take My Life and Let it Be.”

The Rev. Andy Newbill presented the Good News Message entitled “The Holy Spirit With You” in part from Act 19:1-7 and 13-20. Please read these verses for a better understand­ing.

The Hymn of Invitation was “Blessed Assurance.”

Thought for the week: “The mind is like an umbrella — it only works when it is open."
