Deadline To Submit Recipes This Friday

- Viney Grove News LOU HUSKEY WCN Columnist LOU HUSKEY IS RETIRED AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISE-LEADER FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS.

Another week and starting off with snow. It’s not a great amount, thank goodness, but it’s cold and windy. And this only for a day or two. Then we will have some warmer days.

Does this changeable weather from winter to early spring toughen us up, or does it just make us wish that March was over and April and spring were here? Let’s just enjoy every day no matter the weather.

The Viney Grove cookbook is being put together. Have you given the gals in charge of it your favorite recipe yet? If not, get busy and contact Beth Everett, Cheryl West, Sue Lee or Mary Frances Kretschmar to give them your recipe(s). The deadline for taking your recipe is Feb. 17, so select your recipe right now and get it to one of the gals. They will appreciate your help.

It was Beanie Baseball game day on Thursday between Prairie Grove and Lincoln seniors. A busload of Prairie Grovers traveled to Lincoln for two games and lunch, of course. It is great to report that Prairie Grove won the first game handily, but on the second game we were on the losing side. Oh well, you can’t win them all, I guess. Helen Hutchens and I were among those going for a day of fun.

Our community sympathy is extended to John Austin and family in the death last week of his wife Sharon. Services for Sharon were held at the First Baptist Church on Friday.

We also extend our sympathy to Charles and Glenda Lynch in the passing of Charles’ mother, Lucile Lynch, on Thursday. Services will be held on Feb. 14 at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.

I was thrilled to have son Mike here for four days last week. Besides working from here (thanks to the Internet), he also found time to do a few small jobs for me. I do appreciate it.

Have a good week and stay well and warm.
