LINCOLN — Lincoln polished off the regular season by defeating Pea Ridge and Hackett and finished in first place in the 3A-1 with a 23-3 record.

The Wolves closed out the regular season with a 14-0 triumph over Hackett on senior night at the old baseball diamond. With a new high school under construction, Lincoln may play on a new diamond next season and the Wolves played well in the season finale with seniors Trenton Biggs, Dustin Simmons, Zach Summers, Shane Perkins and Boone Ruston going out in style.

Summers started the game and got the win, going 9-1. Cheyenne Vaughn came on in relief and pitched the final two innings to get the save. Vaughn went 5-2 after beginning the year with his arm not quite in pitching condition.

“At the start of the season my arm was a little sore because I didn’t throw much in the offseason,” Vaughn said, explaining after a few games his arm got more comfortable.

The junior said he learned he has to throw more in the offseason and his arm feels great now.

Four other Lincoln pitchers combined to go 8-0 including Biggs, Drew Harris, Dakota Riggin and Tyler Cummins.

“We’ve got some arms, got depth this year and I’m excited for it,” Harris said.

By finishing first, the Wolves earn a first-round bye and play at noon Saturday with an automatic bid into the Regional tournament. Harris said it was one of those games where everybody in the lineup had a hit as the Wolves stroked 14 hits to score 14 runs.

“We’re putting the bat to the ball. I’m real proud of their effort,” Harris said. PEA RIDGE — Freshman pitcher, Drew Harris, threw a no-hitter as Lincoln played at Pea Ridge on Friday night and won 15-0.

“I thought he had an outstanding night, he did an extremely good job of keeping the ball down and getting a lot of ground balls,” Lincoln coach Brad Harris said.

Harris noted the Wolf defense played very solid behind the starting pitcher, who only allowed one walk to the second batter of the day. Harris said it was a very nice job out of a freshman.

“I am very proud of him, as his coach, but an extremely proud dad,” Harris said.

Harris was pleased with Wolves’ offense as they hit the ball very well.

“I think everyone in our line up had a hit and most had multiple hits,” Harris said.
