Center Plans Trip To Harrison Thursday

-

May Day has slipped past me this year without any thoughts or recognition. For many years my kids took homemade baskets with fresh flowers to the shut-ins or special neighbors. The kids would knock on the door and leave the basket and run and hide to watch the recipient’s face. One year my son got caught and had to go up on the porch for a hug and kiss from the lady, and he was so embarrassed that he didn’t do it any more. It sure made that lady’s day.

May 3 is the trip to Harrison to the Senior Games. We will leave early, at 5:30 a.m.

My mother was born on this date in 1902. Although I know she had some tough times, she was always happy and raised nine kids. After all that, she was always fascinated and very pleased with the washing machine and thought it was the best invention ever.

Prairie Grove will be here on May 8 to play beanbag baseball. Also that evening will be the Misfit Dance.

There will be a program on oral health on May 11. Mother’s Day is May 13. We go out to eat on May 17 and the country dance with the potluck will be on May 22

We have had such a great response to the trip to Crystal Bridges, we are going once again on May 24.

We will be bowling with Springdale on May 25.

Monday, May 28, we will be closed for Memorial Day.

Be sure to stop by the center and pick up a newsletter, calendar and menu for the month of May. And catch another neat writing by “Dun Did That” — our very own Tom Lockhart. Tom could be Arkansas’ very own Will Rogers.

Oh yes, Nellie, bless your little heart for the kind comments I hear you make about me and my articles.
