Wolves Play For District Title Lincoln Dominates West Fork On Saturday

LINCOLN — Zach Summers earned his tenth baseball victory over the season with a solid performance and got plenty of support as Lincoln defeated West Fork 13-0 on Saturday.

In relief, Tyler Cummings mesmerized West Fork batters, whizzing strikes past as the Tigers consistently couldn’t hit Cummings. The sophomore retired the first five batters he faced and only gave up one base.

Cummings said Harris informed him if the Wolves got a lead, he wanted to save Summers’ arm and to get mentally focused.

“When coach called my name, I was ready to go,” Cummings said.

Dalton Simmons slammed a home run, the first of his high school career to hi-light a good day from the batter’s box for Lincoln. All of this was too much for West Fork to handle as Lincoln advanced to the championship game of the district 3A-1 tournament.

Simmons said he got a good look

at the pitch he blasted over the center field wall to score three runs, moving Lincoln’s advantage from an 8-0 lead to 11-0 in one swing of the bat.

“It was just like a beach ball floating up there, it was my pitch to hit,” Simmons said, adding, “It was amazing.”

Lincoln coach Brad Harris noted the Wolves had 13 runs in four innings calling it a solid performance to set up the Wolves for a shot at the championship.

“We’ve got arms ready to go on Monday. We have four seniors and we want them to win the last game they play

on this field,” Harris said.

NOTE — The championship game of the district 3A-1 tournament was originally scheduled for Monday but held over until Tuesday because of a wet field and hadn’t yet been played as of press time.
