Methodist Church Gets New Pastor

Newbills Moving To Church In Piggott

- MARSHA HEDGE HAS CONTRIBUTED CHURCH ARTICLES TO THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

After announcements at Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln on Mother’s Day Sunday, the Rev. Newbill held a special prayer for the nurturing women of our church.

The congregation joined in “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and Psalm 98.

The Scripture Reading was John 15:9-17.

The congregation then sang “Hymn of Promise.”

During our Joys and Concerns, we remembered many who are facing health challenges and require traveling mercies.

This was followed by the Lord’s Prayer and “Standing on the Promises” and “The Apostles’ Creed.”

Ms. Lee led Children’s Time with the story of Peter healing the crippled beggar. Next was “O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee.”

The Rev. New bill presented the Good News message of “Going On” from John 15:9-17, 1 John 5:16 and Acts 10:44-48.

The Hymn of Invitation was “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.”

The announcements were:

Happy anniversary to Michael and Heather Thordsen on May 19; happy birthday to Shyanna Hamilton on May 15, to Lee Munyon on May 15 and to June Wood on May 15.

While we feel a definite sense of sadness, we will be encouraging the Rev. Andy and his wife, Denese, as they prepare to start the next phase of their ministry at the First United Methodist Church in Piggott in June.

We know how lucky the folks in Piggott are to have the Newbills joining them.

We will be welcoming a new pastor, Gary Lunsford, and his wife, Marty, into our church family.

Thought for the week: God doesn't call people who are qualified. He calls people who are willing, and then He qualifies them.
