New Newspaper Deadline Hard To Remember

-

How did I remember to write this before 5 p.m. on Friday? I finally broke down and got a new phone with reminders. I am packing up both my classroom and the parent room at school. I had no clue that 5 p.m. was so near until I got a reminder sound which surprised me since I had only heard it once before.

I had been using my husband's hand-me-down phone for the past five years. What finally convinced me to get a modern phone was a workshop I attended on Wednesday. I hope next week I will have some free time to start learning how to use all the fancy functions. I haven't told my 32-year-old son in Korea about it yet. He will be so proud that I am joining in the new communication system. He's been urging me to do Facebook for a couple of years. I did get an account but can't get interested in doing much with it.

My thoughts often lead to memories of friends and family I have lost. They really do stay with us in many ways. Sometime I wonder whose seat I have taken and why I have it. I have chairs from David's aunt, my aunt, David's dad, David's mom, my dad, my friend Kristi and my friend Betty.

Did I ever tell you my home is a museum? I want to record the story that goes with many items. I know my boys won't be able to keep them all, but they will at least know what did not come from a local store. I hope some of my former students and children from church will enjoy some of the things my sons will not keep. Meanwhile, I continue to sort through things to get rid of now, but you should see the things in the hallway I am taking home for the summer.

On Sunday afternoons I will be doing crafts and learning activities with Hispanic families on our church grounds.
