Newspaper Receives Press Awards
Newspaper Recognized
Washington County Enterprise-Leader received 17 awards for excellence in news and photo coverage from the Arkansas Press Association on Saturday.
The newspaper staff received a first place in community coverage and a second place in general excellence.
Mark Humphrey, sports reporter, received a first place award for his story “What Lincoln Football Means.” He also received a second place for sports column, and two third place awards for a sports column and sports news story.
Julie Videtto, page designer, received a first place award for best front page design.
Pat Harris, editor, received a second place for photo essay at Prairie Grove Battlefield Park.
Lynn Kutter, reporter, and Harris received a second place for business/agriculture reporting and a third place for education coverage.
Kutter also received a second place for a feature story, third place for a feature photo and an honorable mention for a sports feature photo.
Ben Madrid received a third place freelancer award.
Three first place photo awards were given for work done by former sports reporter Rod Russell in the first six months of 2011. The photos were of Cincinnati tornado
devastation, a news feature photo and a sports feature photo.
The Enterprise- Leader covers Farmington, Lincoln, Prairie Grove and surrounding communities in west Washington County.
There were 1,070 weekly newspaper entries for the Arkansas Press Association’s Editorial 2012 Better Newspaper Contest, according to APA.
