Filing for school board elections began on July 3 and ended at noon on July 10, according to Washington County Clerk Karen Combs Pritchard.

School board elections will be Sept. 18 for all districts.

Lincoln Consolidated School District will have all board positions to be determined by the election due to redistricting.

Arkansas law states each zone must have an even population of minorities, which meant a change for many of the states’ school districts.

Former Superintendent Frank Holman told board members in May the law was several years old, however the difference in 2012 was the 2010 Census. District zoning was the result of the growth of minorities in the district.

“Every board member has to run again this year,” Holman said.

Lincoln School Board members are Connie Meyer, Dax Moreton, Jim Ayers, Earl Hunton and Kendra Moore. They each will serve fiveyear terms.

Superintendent Clay Hendrix said on Thursday all five board members had picked up a school board packet. Those had to be filled out and turned in when filing at the county courthouse.

As of early Tuesday morning Connie Meyer had filed for Zone 5, Dax Moreton filed for Zone 4 and James Ayers had filed for Zone 2, according to the county clerk’s website.

Prairie Grove has one expiring term, Position 1. Eric Walker has filed for that five-year term.

Doug Williams had filed for Position 5 in the Farmington School District. That position was the only one expiring in 2012.
