County Trash Hauler To Cease Operations

Circuit Court Ruling Will Impact About 350 Rural Customers

PRAIRIE GROVE — About 350 customers in Washington County will be looking for a new private hauler following a ruling in Washington County Circuit Court last week.

A circuit court ruling ordered the rural trash hauling service 2B Green, formerly known as Threet Waste Management, to cease its collection and hauling operations because of a civil business dispute, according to Maylon Rice, director of the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District.

Rice said about 350 business and residential custom- ers could be affected by the ruling. The stoppage order from the court was effective July 5. Rice said the order apparently was part of a business dispute between investors and the company.

The ruling does not affect any households or businesses within the Prairie Grove city limits. The city of Prairie Grove provides its own trash service for its citizens, said Larry Oelrich, director of administrative services and public works.

Rice issued a news release about the court order to give a heads-up to those customers serviced by 2B Green.

“We're just trying to get ahead of the curve,” Rice said Monday. “We knew about it through the courts.”

Rice provide 2B Green's customer list to other rural haulers in the area but said any agreements for service would be between the hauler and customer.

The affected areas in Washington County include Cinncinnati, Summers, Wesley, Wedington Woods, Nob Hill, Goshen, Elm Springs and rural areas near Farmington, Fayetteville, Johnson, Springdale and Tontitown.

Rice said the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District is proceeding with its plan of action when service is halted by a rural trash collection company so that the collection process can continue.

Rice said the news release was sent out so the customers would understand why they were being contacted by other rural trash haulers.

He said it's possible that customers who prepaid for trash service with 2B Green may be entitled to refunds if they have proof of their payment.

Washington County residents who have been customers of 2B Green and are concerned about their residential or business accounts should contact Al Granger, chief enforcement officer for Boston Mountain Solid Waste District, at 479-846-4605.
