Ledbetter Fifth Graders Recognized At Arkansas Historic Preservation Art Competition
Three fifth-grade students from Farmington's Ledbetter Intermediate School recently were recognized for their art submitted to a competition sponsored by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.
Lark Sybrant won first place in the fifth- grade art division for a drawing of the First Christian Church in Fayetteville and Sarah Falknor won third place for a drawing of the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Karyssa Butler received an honorable mention of her drawing of Cane Hill College.
According to a news release from the program, the competition was the 20th annual “Preserve Our Past” art and essay invitational. The contest was held as part of Arkansas Heritage Month 2012 activities and the winners were selected from among 135 entries.

First-, second- and thirdplace winners in each division received a trophy and all students who entered the contest received a certificate. Winning entries and honorable mention entries were on display at the Old State House Museum in Little Rock during Arkansas Heritage Month.
The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program is the Department of Arkansas Heritage agency responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and the Historic Arkansas Museum.
